FOUNDATIONS IN FREE MOTION QUILTING:
- Workshop for quilting on your domestic machine
- Learn about several basting techniques
- Practice spray basting
- Discuss the necessity of and how to make a quilting plan
- Adjusting tension
- Practice six quilting motifs (meander, loopy meander, swirls, switchbacks, paisleys, and square spirals)
- Practice quilting a project of your own on a Quilting Rockstar panel
- Skill level: beginner free motion quilters, and quilters who have attempted FMQ in the past with little success
FOUNDATIONS IN RULER WORK:
- Workshop for quilting on your domestic machine
- Learn key skills for quilting with rulers
- How to: ruler handling
- How to: make quilting plans
- Practice 6 ruler quilting motifs (stitch in the ditch, echo quilting, ruler assisted switchbacks, dot to dot quilting, basic grids, and zig zag borders)
- Time to practice quilting a project of your own on a Quilting Rockstar panel
- Skill level: Entry level quilting with rulers, confident beginner (or beyond) FMQ skills recommended

HollyAnne, in addition to being a Quilting Rockstar, is also a trained Aurifilosopher. On July 13th, she will be presenting a 90-minute lecture where she will dive deep into the making and properties of Aurifil thread. She will cover thread basics, including information on weight and ply, spool positioning, needle recommendations, and tension settings. Gain insight from her offer helpful tips and tricks, and enjoy her project examples which are sure to inspire you. ABOUT HOLLYANNE

HollyAnne Knight is founder and CEO of String & Story-- a quilting education company founded in 2016 with the goal of guiding Quilting Rockstars around the world to quilt with confidence. Today, she has over 20,000 students in 18+ countries and all 50 states.
She is proprietor of the quilt shop, String & Story on Main, where she loves to connect with her students in person. In addition to being a rising star in the quilting industry, HollyAnne is wife to the Hubster, John, and they have two boys, Jem & Ian. Her dog Havana loves to accompany her basically anywhere, but the two cats, Moby & Felicia, prefer to be left at home. HollyAnne loves hanging out on the Duluth town green, riding her Peloton, and reading just about anything she can get her hands on.
